"What I have always enjoyed most about working with my clients is the opportunity to break down complex problems and provide straightforward solutions. You can't overstate the importance of being a good listener. I have always found that the best solutions have been those created through collaboration."

Tim completed an internship with a "national" firm in his junior year in college, but found the working environment a bit unsatisfying.

"I really liked the nature of the work I experienced during my internship, but the atmosphere in that firm didn’t fit my personality. It always felt like that firm was all about just productivity and revenue, and not about providing real service to the client. I tend to be an outgoing and social person and like to bring a level of fun to any of my interactions with others. It is this approach to business that has allowed me to build some incredibly strong relationships with my clients over the years, which is what Moquist Thorvilson Kaufmann Kennedy & Pieper LLC is all about.

Tim joined the assurance department at Moquist Thorvilson Kaufmann Kennedy & Pieper LLC upon his graduation from Moorhead State University in 1991 and he became a shareholder in 2003. He has always had a love for working with entrepreneurs and their businesses due to the alignment of this work with his own career passion and drive. The typical entrepreneur has very diverse needs, which fits well with Tim’s desire to create deep and meaningful relationships. In addition to handling assurance and tax compliance and transaction work for his diverse clients in the manufacturing, distribution, service and real estate sectors, Tim also provides various ongoing advisory services to these clients to help them achieve their ultimate goals.

"Ultimately, I view the key tenets of our practice to be assisting our clients in driving higher performance, creating greater value within their organization and providing peace of mind to the business owners we serve."

To continue that legacy, Tim leads recruitment efforts at Moquist Thorvilson Kaufmann Kennedy & Pieper LLC and is the point person for the firm's internship program and relationships with key colleges and universities.
